Western Flame (words & music by Roy Evan Burstiner)
Running down the low lit alleys
Lost in the mysterious night
Hanging on the notes of serenade
Fading in a distant flight
As the smoke fills the desert streets tonight
With footsteps in a cold heart rain
Burning like a fuse in a western flame
Wrapped up in a dead end blanket
Freezing winds are blowing this way
Swallowed up in the drowning waters
Riding on these icy waves
As a town clock strikes the midnight hour
Filling all the night with pain
Looking for the heat of a western flame
Broken pipes are clanging out a tune
In a dusty room so dark
The old man counts the many bottles
on the wall of a deserted bar
Echos of the roadside engines
Roaring past the population sign
Scoring down those highway ruins
Keeping all the souls alive
In the dust of those broken hearted ones
Finding nothing on the ground remains
Vanished in the heat of a western flame

Ghosts of the many reckless angels
Sinking in the desperates seas
Holding on to that one last hope
Whispered in a silent scream
Toss away those faded flowers
Shadows clinging on the vines
Caught up in the frame of an empty door
Breathing thru the windblown sign
I’m standing in the dust bowl town tonight
Blood is rushing thru my veins
Burning thru my heart like a western flame
