Back To The Long Lost Highway (words & music by Roy Evan Burstiner)

The warm summer air it hits me, like the breath of God’s air true
My backpacks’s loaded with memories, of the towns that I’ve passed thru
Deserted dreams that surround me, just a thought floating thru the night
Of a place that I still wish i’d be, as the years go passing by

Traveling down the long lost highway, with one place to go
I dream at night of your sweet kiss, as I make my way back home

Cornfields sway in the landscape, Factory smoke  fill the sky all around
This train is rumbling along the tracks passed the cities and the towns
Sunlight streaming thru the window, & I close my eyes & sigh
As the miles give way to the hope I need, under neath the open skies

Traveling down the long lost highway, where the dusty wind is blown
I dream at night of your sweet kiss, as I make my way back home

Traveling down the long lost highway, as I go this road alone
I dream at night of your sweet kiss, as I make my way back home

Now the dreams of youth have left me, to the age and the years gone by
I count the blessings to what I had, & the few things that I did right
I say my prayers to the dusty road, where many have fallen away
I give a nod to the broken promises of their younger days

Traveling down the long lost highway, I still got a long way to go
But I dream at night of your sweet kiss, as I make my way back home
